Introduction: This project, situated in the Erasmus+ framework, aimed at addressing the detrimental effects of fake news on the mental health of young people. By promoting accurate information dissemination and mental health awareness, the project sought to fortify the youth against misinformation and its associated stresses.

Objectives:

To mitigate mental health issues among youth, exacerbated by fake news.
To foster an intercultural environment among young people.
To enhance understanding and elimination of fake news and disinformation.
To elevate youth mental health awareness and preservation strategies.
To boost civic responsibility and community-oriented positive change among youth.

Activities: The centerpiece of this project was a Youth Exchange program involving diverse preparatory and dissemination activities.

These included:

  • Addressing key topics like fake news and mental health.Linguistic and logistical preparation, with a focus on risk prevention and intercultural sensitivity.Establishing youth platforms, online booklets, initiative groups, and conducting workshops and face-to-face trainings.Promoting new collaborative approaches.Participants: 40 young individuals (20 female, 20 male), aged 18-30, from the eight participating countries, each represented by 5 participants including a group leader.

Selection Criteria:

For participants: Age 18-30, basic English proficiency, motivated, responsible, respectful.
For group leaders: Fluent in English, experienced in Erasmus+ projects, highly responsible, capable of mediating between participants and official sides.

Financial Overview:

A total grant of 26.645,00€ was allocated to facilitate the project’s goals, of which:Travel (EUR 11, 925):
Details: The project was hosted in Turkey, with participants traveling from partner countries of the project.
– North Macedonia -1375€ in total
– Georgia – 1375€ in total
– Netherlands – 2160€ in total
– Armenia – 1375€ in total
– Denmark – 1800€ in total
– Turkiye – 665 € in total
– Sweden -1800€ in total
-Poland – 1375€ in total
Allocation: This budget covered international plane tickets to and from Turkey for the participants. Additionally, internal transport expenditures such as local commuting from the airport to the hotel and back, as well as any travel associated with the project’s activities, were covered under this head.

Individual Support (EUR 11, 520):
Details: All participants were accommodated at the Rich Melis Hotel Hotel in Istanbul.
Allocation: This budget covered hotel stay for the entire duration of the project. In addition, funds were allocated to stationary materials required for project activities. A cultural trip to acquaint participants with local Turkish heritage and a traditional dinner celebrating the diverse cultures of the participants were also organized using these funds.

Organisational Support (EUR 3,200):

Details: A project of this magnitude required ample logistical and administrative support.
Allocation: This budget was specifically used to create and display banners throughout the venue, promoting the essence of the project. Furthermore, it covered salaries for the administrative and supportive staff essential to the smooth running of the project.

Conclusion:

The ‘Digital Stress’ project successfully facilitated cross-cultural dialogue addressing significant mental health concerns in the digital age. The judicious allocation of funds ensured the effective delivery of all project components, promising enduring positive impacts on youth mental health across the participating countries.
