Jamaal Foundation gives awareness on harmful practices

A training on harmful practices like forced marriage, female circumcision and child abandoning by Jamaal Foundation has been held in Ermelo, The Netherlands in 14 & 28  September 2024.

Members of the minor migrant communities in Ermelo attended the training aimed to end these practices, as the participants discussed over the legal aspects and the consequences if a girl is being forced to marry or a child is being abandoned in the country of origin.

Istahil Abdullahi, who campaigns against FGM, gave a presentation in the training and explained deeply the social impact in which the harmful practices have on the life of the migrant communities.

The Dutch government has an active policy to prevent domestic and honour-related violence, forced marriage and female genital mutilation. This is the result of the ratification of a number of international treaties such as the UN Women’s Convention.
